Historically, the first Monday in May has marked an iconic night for fashion and the Metropolitan Museum of Art: the Met Gala, dedicated to raising funds for the Met’s Costume Institute. Taking inspiration from Susan Sontag's essay "Notes on Camp," the 2019 Met Gala theme focused on extravagance.
